First edition, first printing hardcover copy of Wild Seed by Octavia E. Butler (Doubleday, 1980). A very rare true first edition of this, the fourth book in Butler’s science fiction Patternist series. Jacket is protected in mylar sleeve but with some mild shelf wear around the edges and slight scuffing to faces, including scratch to front cover near middle of fore edge. Boards are straight and clean with corners and spine ends slightly bumped. Binding remains solid, hinges at secure and spine is straight. Foxing to endpapers and outer edge of text block. Otherwise, all pages are clean and unmarked though faintly tanned. See photos for condition.
