That’s right polybag version? What……
Story - I bought this on eBay a couple years ago, paid a lot because I thought it could be a real life error. Previous owner says he bought it in 1998 at NYCC just as pictured.
I reached to a few people including (RecalledComics.com) and there are no known instances of there being errors made this way, so I have come to the conclusion that this is not the real deal. My primary evidence is the plastic may have taken from the first print A cover variant opened, and resealed with the 2nd print put inside. This is only my guess from research. Who knows the real story behind this oddity. I love collecting comic oddities, errors, etc.
The price is high because I got banged pretty high when I bought it. The good news is the Spider-Man 1 Gold 2nd print inside is a NM+ comic polybag sealed since some time in the 90’s.
