The Roman goddess Virtus, the personification of classical virtue and peace with her foot upon the back of tyranny, victorious over the British crown. She holds a downward-pointed spear and long ceremonial triangular dagger called the parazonium that is sheathed because her deed is done.

The motto was chosen, easily the most badass ever, sic semper tyrannis, or Thus always to tyrants. These being the same words exclaimed by Brutus as he plunged his knife into Julius Caesar.
