Gorgeous Chinese celadon glazed brush washer used for cleaning calligraphy & brush painting brushes featuring a pair of monkeys on the upper edge, indicative of cleverness & good fortune. The smaller monkey's hand is lowered into the opening & the larger monkey rests a protective, steadying hand on his back. Bulbs forming the pot have delicate curves giving the impression of fruit or buds & are decorated w/a bamboo, floral & leaf motif. Rare find in amazing condition, an eye catching & unique piece. Could be used as a low vase & perfect for a vintage, Asian, ceramics collection or Year of the Monkey celebrants.
