Climax Red Rustic Bottle Capper Vintage Press

Bottle capping tool painted in red metal dating to the Prohibition Era in America. The Industrial Design, called Climax, was patented in the late 1920s by Harry J. Lebherz for the Everedy Company of Frederick, Maryland. These devices enjoyed a brief heyday during prohibition as a means to seal brews made in the privacy of a home. The manually-operated device is adjustable (using the lever handle) and would look right at home displayed on or behind a bar, as an accent for a more Industrial style distillery, a rustic vineyard, or a vintage speakeasy.

The bottle capper retains its original red surfaces although the paint has chipped, flaked, and worn away over time. The device also has surface corrosion. The base has a pair of holes so they can be secured to a surface with ease. It is stamped: TRADEMARK/ PATENED/ MADE IN U.S.A. / CLIMAX. Fully extended in an upright position, measures approximately 20.5 in. height and the bases measure 6.2
